International OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) observers on Wednesday harshly criticized President Donald Trump's "unfounded allegations" of fraud in the US presidential election, stressing that they "weakened confidence of the public in democratic institutions ".

"No one - no politician, no elected representative - should limit the right to vote of the population," said German deputy Michael Georg Link, coordinator of international observers responsible for monitoring the election.

"After such a tense campaign, making sure every vote is counted is a fundamental obligation for all branches of government."
