Lyudmila Denisova, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, stated this on her Facebook.

“Vitaly Markiv is free,” she wrote.

Also, the Ukrainian ombudsman published a photo with Markiv.

Earlier, the Milan Court of Appeal acquitted Vitaliy Markiv, who has citizenship of Ukraine and Italy.

In May 2014, the Italian journalist Andrea Rocchelli and his translator Andrei Mironov, a Russian citizen, were killed near Slavyansk; they were fired upon from mortars.

Later, the investigation found out that the Italian reporter was shot deliberately.

Markiv was arrested in the summer of 2017 in Bologna.
