Govorin noted that, given the current situation, the problem should be considered comprehensively.

“Medicine is such a specialty that you only have to be in it.

When you are an engineer today and a part-time doctor is wrong.

It will be unprofessional.

Medicine requires a response from morning to evening, and every day, and throughout life.

A doctor learns all his life.

I believe that if we are talking about doctors, then a person should devote himself only to this specialty, and then he will be highly competent, considering how rapidly healthcare is developing, how rapidly medical science is developing, how much needs to be mastered, ”the deputy explained.

In his opinion, the right way is to improve literacy in the provision of first aid, to form a culture of a responsible attitude to one's health, to develop mechanisms of medical care and self-help.

"Now a serious problem has arisen, for example, the lack of personnel in small settlements ... In general, it is necessary to increase the general literacy in the health care system, and the personnel must be highly professional," the parliamentarian concluded. 

Earlier, State Duma deputy Vasily Vlasov proposed to provide citizens with the opportunity to get a second higher education free of charge upon admission to medical specialties.
