Prison closed for the authors of threats tagged on a school in Lyon

The threats, which occurred a week after the assassination of Samuel Paty in Conflans-Saint-Honorine, had caused a stir in Lyon and had been taken very seriously by the police.

On Monday, two men aged 18 and 19 were sentenced to two years in prison, including one year, for threats tagged on the facade of a school in the 8th arrondissement.

On the morning of Saturday, October 24, inscriptions targeting the mayor of the district, Olivier Berzane, but also teachers and students, had been discovered on the shutters and the door of the Philibert Delorme school group.

“The mayor of the 8th arrondissement, we are going to behead you child of satan” and “continue we are going to behead the teachers and students and we will behead your mother”, was it notably written on the facade.

"A big mistake"

The police quickly found the trace of one of the authors of these tags, thanks to his DNA found on the school portal.

The laptops of the latter and his acolyte were also limited in front of the school group during the events and the use of video surveillance images confirmed their involvement.

On October 29, the two defendants were arrested as well as a 16-year-old minor, indicted for these tags.

At the bar of the court, the two Lyonnais admitted to having made "a big mistake" and explained not to have thought about the gravity of their acts, carried out, according to them, at the request of sponsors to erase debts, reports

A mea culpa who has not completely convinced justice.

At the end of the hearing on Monday, the two men were taken into custody.
