The first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure denounced Monday the "inconsistency" of the decision of Prime Minister Jean Castex to leave small shops closed but to block access to the shelves of non-essential products of supermarkets, for the sole benefit of 'Amazon.

"We have small traders competing with large-scale distribution and therefore we say: + okay no competition, so we are removing everything for everyone +, and in the end, we are doing a godsend to Amazon, which will be able to be the only one teaches to continue to sell in this period of confinement, "criticized the boss of the PS on France 2.

"It is unbearable because it is absolutely not coherent and no one can grasp it," he added.

According to him, "we have a period which is very distressing for the French, one is not obliged to add to it the incompetence and the permanent lack of preparation of this government".

"The Prime Minister is very embarrassed because he is discovering the subjects one after the other", he accused.

Mr. Faure also wondered about the definition of essential products, taking the example of children's clothing and books.

He also called for the reopening of bookstores because "the book is an essential good, which is part of the works of the mind", especially in this period when we defend freedom of expression.

For him, the government should leave the prefect the possibility of opening small businesses because "there are lots of places, villages, small towns, where local shops are the only ones available".

Mr. Faure also proposed to introduce "an exceptional tax on GAFA which will make it possible to fund a solidarity fund in favor of those who are forced to close today".

Asked about the mayors who take orders to open businesses, the boss of the PS replied: "I will not encourage them to do it, but I understand the gesture, they want to create the debate and push the government to make the right decisions ".

"It is not the right solution but finally sometimes one is brought when one is mayor to alert by the channel which is this one", he added.
