France: several Muslim organizations together against religious extremism

Faced with the proliferation of terrorist attacks and calls for anti-French demonstrations around the world after the republication of the Muhammad cartoons, several Muslim organizations signed a joint declaration, presented on Monday at the Grand Mosque in Paris.

Through the voice of the rector of the Great Mosque of Paris, the signatories denounce
the calls to boycott
French products, in certain Muslim countries, and a false speech on the situation of believers in France.
Aslam Timol, from the Great Mosque of Saint-Denis in Reunion Island, therefore wanted to address Muslims abroad: “
Today, I am more comfortable practicing my worship than in many countries. Muslims.
We cannot allow Muslims from outside to tell us how to worship.
"
In France, the signatories expect the state, on the other hand, to protect Muslims from any confusion with terrorism.

When I see certain politicians who only spend their time dividing and throwing small sulphurous phrases, I want to say that there are certain people who love their chair but not their country
" , estimates Najat ben Ali, in charge of a mosque in the south of Paris.
All signatories pledge that this declaration is only a first step in their common work to fight religious extremism, wherever it occurs.
