Now the number of infected is up to 150 people per day - a doubling compared to a few weeks ago.

At the same time, more and more patients are being tested, and right now 13 percent of those being tested are positive.

- The increase in cases cannot be explained by increased sampling because more of those who test themselves turn out to have covid -19, says Mikael Köhler in a press release.

That the infection is increasing can also be seen in special housing, inpatient care, and that more people are seeking care for covid-19.

"Can end badly"

The number of positive test results reflects the spread of infection with a two-week delay, according to Fredrik Settergren, head of Close Care and Health.

- Now everyone must take the tightened local councils seriously, if it is not to get even worse, he says.

Mikael Köhler goes even further in his call:

- The local councils must be followed as if they were teams.

Otherwise, they can end badly, he says.

Stricter advice

The region is in talks with the Swedish Public Health Agency about introducing new, stricter local councils.

- We are considering it carefully, and in that case it may come at the end of this week because that is when we have discussions with the Public Health Agency planned, Mikael Köhler tells SVT.

He points out that it may be a difficult winter.

- The need for care may be greater than it was last spring.
