In the US presidential election two days ahead, a delay in the delivery of vote-by-mail ballots already signed by voters resulted in a court ordering the Federal Post Office for special action.

According to the Associated Press, Judge Stanley Bastian of the US District Court of Yakama, Washington, has had federal post office facilities in Wisconsin and Detroit, Michigan conduct a thorough investigation of mail containing presidential ballots.

In order to ensure rapid delivery, the court ordered the elections to be inspected daily, and based on this, the court ordered the ballots to arrive at the elections office by 8 p.m. on the 3rd of the day of the presidential election.

The order comes after 14 states, including Michigan, Wisconsin, and Washington, have sued for delayed delivery of ballots by requesting expedited delivery.

However, it is unclear whether the delay in mail ballot delivery will be resolved despite the court's order.

The Wall Street Journal reported that, as of the 30th local time, more than 7 million vote-by-mail ballots had not yet been delivered in 13 competing states as of the 30th local time.

This is equivalent to 28% of all 24 million votes by mail in the 13 contending states.

In this presidential election, amid the rapid increase in mail voting due to the Corona 19 outbreak, there are growing concerns about confusion, such as delayed counting or the possibility of processing invalid votes due to delivery delays.
