Before the summer, the police in Bergslagen introduced a special code for everything related to disturbances from cars, such as bus driving or loud music.

During the summer months of June-August, 1,073 disturbance reports were prepared in the counties of Örebro, Värmland and Dalarna, according to a compilation published by the newspaper Hem och Hyra.

By far the most reports were made according to the compilation in Arvika - 196.

The urban area thus had more than two reports per night, on average.

- The municipality had to close down larger parts of the city, it was one of the last resort we had to take, says Maria Westby.

Wants to pay a fine on the spot

Since the municipality's measure to close streets in the city center, the disturbances have decreased.

But Maria Westby does not believe that this is a sustainable solution to the problem.

- Many are affected by the closed roads.

Being able to fine on the spot would give us the power to act.

Confidence in the police deteriorates if we do not have the right tools.

- We can only reject, remove or take care of, it solves the problem for the moment.

But then?

says Maria Westby.

Reviewing the possibility of changing the law

Therefore, the police have appointed a national working group which, together with the police's national operational department, lawyers and the police in the Bergslagen region, reviews the laws and regulations that exist today.

The group will either develop a solution on how the police can work with the existing laws, or a proposal to change the law.

The results will be presented to the National Police Chief at the end of the year.

Maria Westby hopes that the proposal will open up the possibility of fining the loud party prizes on the spot.

- We want action to have immediate consequences, but it is not about introducing any form of ban, but about what measures we may take after assessment there and then, she says.
