His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office and Chairman of the Advanced Technology Research Council, attended a workshop in which 45 Emirati talents participated, selected as part of the first batch of the Advanced Technology Research Program, which was recently launched by the Council Cutting-edge technology research.

The program for developing and discovering exceptional talent «NexTech», which came under the directives of His Highness, aims to nurture talents and encourage young people to explore and work in advanced technology jobs, and to support national talents in the fields of research and technology, in line with ambitious and continuous national investments aimed at developing knowledge in the Emirate. During the workshop, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed listened to what the participants in the program learn, their desired goals from carrying out this research, and the benefits that will accrue to Abu Dhabi and the world.

The workshop was attended by members of the Board of Directors of the Advanced Technology Research Council, Head of the Department of Education and Knowledge, Member of the Executive Council, Sarah Awad Issa Muslim, Head of the Department of Economic Development, Member of the Executive Council, Muhammad Ali Muhammad Al Shurafa Al Hammadi, and Secretary General of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, And the Secretary General of the Advanced Technology Research Council, Faisal Al Bannai.

The Advanced Technology Research Council, which was newly established to define research and development priorities for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has implemented three basic initiatives aimed at empowering local talent within the framework of the NexTech program, including an awareness campaign, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi, and local universities, seeking To motivate Emirati youth to engage in advanced science and technology fields, and to ensure the building of the talents of the ambitious new generation in the UAE.

The Talent Discovery Initiative accelerates the process of supporting and empowering exceptional talents in appropriate career paths in the field of research and development, allowing them to contribute to expanding the horizons of advanced technological exploration.

Appraisal tests will be conducted, with a highly competitive selection procedure for qualified candidates, and those selected will be employed by the Technological Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council.

The empowerment initiative enables the channeling of selected talents towards private research projects of the Institute for Technology Innovation, or in cooperation with other entities.

And in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the move of the Advanced Technology Research Council came after the Board of Directors meeting, last August, when 45 citizens were recruited from a total of 125 talents that will be appointed in the first phase, to work on more than 25 projects on Long-term, in partnership with more than 20 leading universities and research institutions in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Colombia.

Emirati researchers will research technological innovations in the seven specialized centers of the Institute of Technology Innovation, in areas including quantum computing, autonomous robots, cryptography, advanced materials, digital security, directed energy and security systems.

The Institute of Technology Innovation will enter into partnerships with emerging, small and medium enterprises, and large companies, with the aim of creating a vibrant scientific community capable of developing pioneering technological innovations with a global impact.

The Advanced Technology Research Council is the first research and technology body of its kind in the Middle East. Its mission is to direct efforts to develop discoveries, innovative technology, "applied research" and advanced technical capabilities, and is committed to long-term funding to increase the impact on the research and development system in the United Arab Emirates and abroad.

The Council works to establish Abu Dhabi and the UAE as a global center for innovation, and it contributes to developing a knowledge economy.
