Amidst a series of weapon terror attacks in France, gunfires took place against a Greek Orthodox priest.

Reuters et al. reported that a shooting took place in a Greek Orthodox church building in Lyon, southeastern France, yesterday (31st) local time.

At about 4 pm that day, a priest who tried to close the church was shot down by two bullets.

The Greek priest was treated in the field, but was said to be critical.

The suspect has not yet been caught after running away from the scene.

Police are tracking the suspect after blocking the scene.

The French Ministry of Interior delivered news of the incident via Twitter and urged citizens to avoid the area around the site.

The shooting took place on the 29th of last month at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Nice, just two days after the deaths of three people.

Braim Auissaoui, a young man from Tunisia, in her twenties, is accused of killing three people, including a church keeper, with a weapon in the Notre Dame Cathedral at around 8:30 am on the 29th of last month.

French President Macron said he would increase the military force from 3,000 to 7,000 to increase the security of religious facilities such as churches and schools.
