Following the spread of the new coronavirus infection, Minister of Justice Kamikawa delivered 1.2 million pieces of medical gowns, which had been produced in prisons nationwide since May, and 160,000 pieces. It was revealed that the production will be increased.

Following the spread of the new coronavirus infection, 42 prisons nationwide have been producing medical gowns for prisoners since May.

At a press conference, Minister of Justice Kamikawa announced that he had produced approximately 1.2 million medical gowns, which he had set as a goal by October, and delivered them to 34 prefectures.

On top of that, it was revealed that the inmates' sewing skills have improved and the raw materials have been used efficiently, resulting in an increase in production of approximately 160,000 pieces.



Minister Kamikawa said, "We have received words of gratitude from medical personnel and others, and we feel that the inmates can also feel the contribution to society and will be useful for rehabilitation, so we would like to continue to actively work on it."
