The right and the National Rally on Friday focused on the fight against immigration in the aftermath of the knife attack in Nice committed by a young Tunisian who had just arrived in France.

"The problem of immigration and its control must be posed, we have proposals to strengthen it," Republican President Christian Jacob said on RTL, estimating that "the texts will have to be changed".

"We can see that today we cannot tackle these subjects (of terrorism and Islamism) without asking that of immigration", he explained.

"For three weeks, three attacks, an attempt narrowly stopped yesterday in Lyon, four times foreigners", he listed.

Mr. Jacob notably recalled the LR proposal for "immigration quotas which are voted in the National Assembly, publicly, after consulting the professional federations".

He also called for "bone tests to first ensure that the minors we take in are indeed minors and unaccompanied minors".

"Last year, almost 500,000 people returned to France, we can no longer accept this immigration", judged on France Info the LR deputy of the Maritime Alps Eric Ciotti who "asked the President of the Republic for a moratorium on the procedures asylum and for the granting of visas from those countries which threaten us ".

"We have given asylum to our enemies", indignant on France Info the president (Libres, ex-LR) of the Ile-de-France region Valérie Pécresse recalling that "it is a Tunisian in an irregular situation who would have had to be expelled by the Italian authorities who ended up arriving in Nice to commit his sinister crime ".

"The first thing is obviously that all foreigners who are radicalized today, stuck with anti-terrorism, be expelled from our country," she said, hoping that this "court decision can be replaced by an administrative decision under the supervision of the judge ".

The president of the National Rally Marine Le Pen, for her part, estimated on BFMTV that if we do not stop "massive, reckless, anarchic immigration into our country, then we will not solve a problem that kills French people on our territory ".

"We have proposed amendments to definitively ban foreigners guilty of terrorism from the national territory, even that they refused to vote for," she notably reproached the majority.

"We have granted French nationality without criteria for decades to people, without measuring whether it deserved it, it is the problem of the automatic acquisition of nationality", she also lamented.
