Several store chains testify that the Public Health Agency's advice against large parties and events is reflected in sales before Halloween.

Demand for products used at large parties has decreased while sales of Halloween decorations for the home have increased.

- Our company sales have fallen very much.

The big parties are decreasing, but the home parties are increasing, says Patrick Bruna who is head of the franchise business at the company Party Land.

More decorations at home

The same trend can be seen on Buttericks.

This year, the company has increased its sales of decorations in the form of tombstones and skeletons by 40 percent compared to last year.

- I think more people will decorate their houses this year, says Stina Petrini, who is head of marketing and business development at Buttericks.

The company Partykungen has also noticed the development and believes that this year they are trying to inspire their customers to celebrate Halloween in a responsible way with the immediate family.

- We see that more people choose to celebrate in their home instead of in the city, which is not least seen in the sale of Halloween decorations that completely exploded this year, says the company's CEO Joel Svensson.

Full face masks

When it comes to masquerade costumes, Partykungen sees that customers now to a greater extent want full-coverage masks, but it is not known whether this can be seen as an effect of the corona pandemic or not.

At Buttericks, they see a reduction in sales of costumes, but believe that a trend for this year is face masks and make-up to paint blood, for example.
