Bromma Airport lost approximately 1.3 million passengers from March to September this year.

Swedavia continues to emphasize in its interim report how it is not "commercially motivated" to continue operating Bromma Airport.

During the second and third quarters of this year, the number of passengers has decreased by upwards of 90 percent at all of Sweden's airports.

- During the beginning of the third quarter, we saw a certain recovery in demand, but it has unfortunately stopped and the number of travelers remains at historically low levels, says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's President and CEO, in a press release.

Swedavia has short-term laid off 2,300 employees and laid off up to 800 employees to meet the financial challenges.

On 14 October, the Riksdag decided to provide Swedavia with SEK 2.5 billion in capital injections.

Wants to close Bromma airport

In mid-September, the state-owned company Swedavia submitted an impact assessment on the future of Bromma Airport to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

However, the report has not been made public in its entirety due to business secrecy, which has aroused criticism in politics.

But the issue is now on the government's table.

In the event of an early closure, Swedavia estimates that traffic at Bromma Airport can be accommodated at Arlanda in the short term without the need to expand it.

In the longer term, it is seen that Arlanda's capacity needs to be expanded.

Look into an empty Bromma airport.

Here, the number of travelers has decreased by just over 90 percent in September compared with the same month last year, according to Swedavia.
