New reports, new measures and highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- France confined again

France began the day on Friday in slow motion with the entry into force of a new containment intended to slow down the second wave of the epidemic.

This confinement must last at least until December 1.

It differs from the previous one, in the spring, in particular by the fact that schools, colleges and high schools will remain open after the start of the All Saints holidays on Monday.

Non-essential businesses are closed (including bars and restaurants), teleworking is "mandatory" for activities that can be carried out remotely.

The EU will mobilize € 220 million to fund transfers of Covid-19 patients from one country to another, in order to relieve hospitals overloaded by the second wave of the pandemic.

- More than 45 million cases

The pandemic has officially infected more than 45.1 million people and killed at least 1.18 million people worldwide since the end of December 2019, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Friday at 11:00 GMT.

The United States is the country most affected (228,675 dead).

They recorded a new 24-hour case record on Thursday, with more than 90,000 new infections.

Brazil (158,969 deaths), India (121,090), Mexico (90,773) and the United Kingdom (45,955) follow.

- Economic rebounds but worries

France now expects a slightly more severe recession than expected this year, despite a strong rebound in the economy in the third quarter: gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to contract by 11% instead of the 10% expected until 'here, the government predicts.

Germany posted an 8.2% increase in GDP in the third quarter, but the impact of the new restrictions is worrying.

Ditto in Italy where GDP jumped 16.1% in the 3rd quarter.

In the euro zone, GDP jumped 12.7% in the third quarter, a historic figure that marks a catching-up after an unprecedented drop (-11.8%) in the previous quarter in full containment.

- Air France-KLM in the red

The airline Air France-KLM recorded a net loss of 1.6 billion euros in the third quarter, with traffic only around 40% of that of last year.

She expects an even more gloomy end of the year.
