Lawyers for Nasser Al-Khelaifi, head of beIN Sports, a Qatar-based sports media group and president of French club Paris Saint-Germain, said on Friday that he had obtained a verdict of acquittal in a case involving the granting of television broadcasting rights to the World Cup matches.

Al-Khulaifi was accused of inciting former FIFA Secretary-General Jerome Falk to commit major criminal offenses.

The case before the Swiss Federal Court was not related to Al-Khulaifi's position as president of Saint-Germain, champion of France.

The court has not yet issued an official statement on the ruling.

"After a fierce campaign during 4 years against me while ignoring the basic facts, the law and any change, today's ruling has finally and completely cleared my square," Khulaifi said through a statement to his lawyer.

"This restores my confidence in the rule of law after 4 years of baseless allegations, fanciful accusations and a continuous distortion of my reputation," he added.

Today the court is expected to issue a ruling on Falk, who has faced charges of accepting bribes, committing major administrative offenses and falsifying documents.

Falk denied wrongdoing.
