The Hearing gives Bárcenas's wife and five other convicts of the 'Gürtel case' 10 days to enter prison

The Second Section of the National Court has given a period of 10 days to the six sentenced to serious penalties in the Gürtel case for their entry into prison.

On the list is Rosalía Iglesias, wife of former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas, as well as

(former Madrid councilor and Ana Mato's ex-husband),

(former Estepona councilor),

(plot accountant ),

(ex-wife of Francisco Correa) and

(ex-vice councilor in Madrid).

The rest of those sentenced to serious sentences - those of more than five years - were already in prisons.

The court has made the decision after receiving the reports from the Public Prosecutor's Office in which it does not oppose the granting of this period for the voluntary admission of those sentenced to serious penalties, in execution of the final judgment of the Supreme Court that confirmed the decision. by the National Court.

In the same resolution, the magistrates reject the suspension of admission to prison requested by José Luis Izquierdo, Carmen Rodríguez Quijano and Rosalía Iglesias.

In the case of the latter, the magistrates explain that there is no impediment to follow rehabilitation treatment that is still pending in the penitentiary.

Neither does the court accept the request of Izquierdo, an accountant for the

, to suspend the admission due to his intention to file an appeal before the Constitutional Court in which he will request to be able to remain free while the case is studied.

The Hearing says that suspending or not the imprisonment will be a decision of the Constitutional Court.

The TC agrees to suspend sentences of less than five years, far from the almost 14 years that weigh on Izquierdo.
