Stricter restrictions have been introduced in the regions of Uppsala, Stockholm, Östergötland, Västra Götaland and Stockholm.

In total, more than 6.5 million people are now covered by the new councils and the reason is an increased spread of the coronavirus in society.

Anders Tegnell tells in Aktuellt that it is a serious situation but that there is a good distance left to the ceiling for what healthcare and society can handle.

The new restrictions want to prevent an even more serious situation.

"Important to break the trend"

The new restrictions for the regions include avoiding shops and gyms.

But shutting them down is not relevant at the moment.

- We can see a little from Uppsala that this has a very big effect and then it is much better to use this type of volunteering.

Then you can choose and find ways to reach the goal that we are really looking for, says Anders Tegnell and continues:

- That we have as few contacts as possible that can mean a spread of infection and that is what we are looking for now for a few weeks to be able to break this trend and go back to restrictions that we have had before.

"Very serious situation"

The advice is to abstain, but do you mean that you can still go to the bathhouse or gym?

- No, I mean that this is a very serious situation.

Here we must show as solidarity as we have done in the spring, but to really reduce our social contacts, says Anders Tegnell.

Anders Tegnell says that you can still move outside.

- You can probably also be in the gym if you just make sure to be there without meeting a lot of new people, without staying in an environment where you do a lot of things together.

But when it comes to sitting on an exercise bike, it goes well, says Anders Tegnell and adds that it is primarily the regions' responsibility.
