The Israeli Supreme Court refused to release the Palestinian prisoner Maher Al-Akhras, who was on hunger strike for the 95th consecutive day, as he refused his administrative detention by the occupation authorities.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated that the court refused to transfer the mute prisoner from Ramla Military Prison Hospital to a Palestinian hospital in the West Bank, where he suffers from a very critical health condition as a result of his continuing hunger strike.

Taghreed (Al-Akhras's wife) said that Kaplan Hospital - in which Maher was previously - decided not to keep her husband under treatment under the pretext of his refusal to cooperate with the medical teams, and claimed that the large number of visitors put him at risk and the rest of the patients in the department, so he was transferred to Ramla Prison Hospital.

Last July, the Israeli occupation authorities arrested the Al-Akhras prisoner, and he was transferred to administrative detention for a period of 4 months. From the moment of his arrest, he began an open hunger strike to refuse his arrest.

Al-Akhras had said in a previous message that he would only eat at home, and demanded that he be allowed to see his mother and children after he had reached a dangerous health stage, and in a supportive step for him, more than 90 prisoners began an open hunger strike.

According to Palestinian human rights organizations, the number of Palestinian detainees in the occupation prisons is about 4,400, including 39 women and about 155 children, and the number of administrative detainees (without charge) is about 350, according to official Palestinian reports.
