The Community Development Authority in Dubai announced that the number of senior citizens and residents registered in its system has increased during the current year, by 25% compared to last year.

The Director of the Authority’s Senior Citizens Department, Maryam Al Hammadi, told Emirates Today that the number of elderly citizens and residents registered in its system has reached 8,812 elderly people, compared with 7,040 elderly people until the end of September of last year, confirming their priority in obtaining On health care and rehabilitation services.

Al-Hammadi explained that the number of senior citizens, currently registered in the authority’s system, is 8,155, while the number of senior residents registered in the authority’s system is 657.

Senior citizens in the Emirate of Dubai obtain a set of health care and rehabilitation services that guarantee financial and psychological stability for them, by submitting the required documents and registering in the authority’s “Thukher” card system.

The Dubai government took the initiative to provide aid and care services to all the elderly in the emirate, both citizens and residents, through the “We Communicate and Protect” campaign, to ensure their health and psychological safety, and to protect them from the negative effects of the Corona pandemic.

According to Al Hammadi, the latest data on the number of registered persons in the "We Communicate and Protect" campaign, which was launched by the authority in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Command, last April, indicates that their number has reached 15,479 elderly people, including 7159 residents.

Al-Hammadi pointed out that the authority had implemented, at the beginning of the Corona crisis, a database project for senior citizens and residents, to benefit from it in implementing the “We communicate and protect” initiative, during which their social and health data were collected, their places of residence, and their needs identified, which allowed obtaining a picture.
