Arrested a year ago for nighttime commotion in Pau, a young man, aged 16 at the time, was beaten by two police officers, while he was handcuffed to a chair.

A doctor had granted the young man fifteen days of temporary work interruption for a double perforation of the eardrum and injuries to the arms.

The two police officers were sentenced Tuesday by the Tarbes correctional court to 15 months suspended prison sentence and a 3,000 euro fine for group violence against a minor.

A sentence slightly lower than the 18 months suspended prison sentence required by the prosecutor.

In addition, the police officers were also sentenced to two years of ineligibility.

The scene captured by a pedestrian camera

Handcuffed on a bench, the young man had received a series of slaps after insulting the police.

The 13-minute scene was filmed by the pedestrian camera of a municipal police officer present.

During the hearing, the Tarbes prosecutor noted that all the violence suffered by the young man was carried out while he was handcuffed behind his back.

A report to the prosecutor of Pau accompanied by the video had then triggered an investigation by the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) then a change of scenery of the case to the Tarbaise jurisdiction.
