Activists from the A la Bretonne association in front of Nantes town hall, October 28, 2020 -

The action, presented as a "happening", was nice but symbolic.

This Wednesday morning, a handful of activists from the A la Bretonne association had made an appointment in front of the town hall of Nantes to challenge Johanna Rolland on the subject of the attachment of the Loire-Atlantique to Brittany.

In front of the gates, they unfurled a banner with the message: "Is democracy still an emergency?"

".

On the ground, 25 boxes to symbolize "the 25,000 inhabitants who are asking for a referendum" were placed.

Two years ago, a petition launched by supporters of reunification had collected 105,000 signatories (including 25,000 from Nantes).

“Since then, the town hall has undertaken to ensure that the question advances.

We ask that it be put on the agenda of the next municipal council, in December, explains Christophe Prugne, president of the association.

A wish for a referendum must be voted on before the departmental and regional elections next year.

This can trigger a public debate and then a vote.

"

The Breton flag hoisted

One way to put pressure on this subject, which has already been much discussed since the start of Johanna Rolland's mandate.

A fortnight ago, the latter announced that the Breton flag will be hoisted in mid-December on the pediment of the town hall.

And the appointment of a deputy in charge of "Breton issues" should also move the file forward.

Especially since Florian Le Teuff, who occupies the post, is also close to the A la Bretonne association.
