Emmanuel Macron spoke on Wednesday evening to announce new health restrictions.
He mentioned 9,000 patients in intensive care in mid-November and this "whatever we do".
"We are overwhelmed by the acceleration" of the Covid-19 epidemic, Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday.
"Whatever we do, 9,000 patients will be in intensive care in mid-November, occupying almost all of the French capacities."
