Lyonnaise Wendie Renard, left on the bench in the last match after commenting on the non-selection of her teammate Amandine Henry, was reinstated in the starting lineup of the Bleues by coach Corinne Deacon to face Austria on Tuesday at Wiener Neustadt ( 9:00 p.m.) in qualifying for Euro-2022.
The former captain of the Bleues was associated with Aïssatou Tounkara in the central hinge, four days after spending the entire meeting on the bench against North Macedonia (11-0), "a choice of the moment" according to Corinne Deacon who had fueled questions about the status of the Lyonnaise (30 years) among the Blue.
She celebrates Tuesday her 121st selection, thus equaling ... Deacon.
Renard was one of the players who reacted to the surprise non-summons of Captain Amandine Henry by Deacon, for "sporting criteria".
The other Lyonnaise Amel Majri, who had also reacted to this subject by evoking "tensions" around the selection, takes it on the other hand again on the bench for the match at the top of group G in Austria.
It should be noted, however, that she is returning from a recent injury.
Eugenie Le Sommer, captain in Henry's absence, is also titular, like Valérie Gauvin in attack, the latter having been preferred to Parisian Marie-Antoinette Katoto.
