This former Republican stronghold has turned into a state Joe Biden could win next week.
Like everywhere in the United States, the demographics are favorable to Democrats.
Georgia's population is growing, especially in the "suburbs" and suburbs, and a younger, more diverse population is settling there.
One in ten inhabitants was born abroad.
According to a report to read in the
New York Times
, Republicans continue to dominate rural areas, still marked by huge plantations of peaches and peanuts.
In the suburbs around Atlanta live immigrants from around 40 countries.
Immigrants mixed with "bobos", "bourgeois American bohemians" who are attracted by this cultural and culinary diversity.
Even a local lawyer close to the Republicans admits it: the inhabitants of these new suburbs prefer to vote Democrat.
Like Virginia, South Carolina, Florida and Texas, Georgia is part of what a political scientist calls the "growth south", therefore the South which is prospering and which attracts many foreigners or Americans from the North.
Among them are Latinos and Asians who are not very inclined to vote in favor of Republicans.
A new Supreme Court firmly anchored on the right
Conservative Magistrate Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court is making headlines in North America.

In fact, Amy Coney Barrett is the first judge since 1869 who has been supported by one party.
In previous confirmations, at least one or two Democratic senators had given their votes in favor of the magistrate proposed by the Republicans.
The problem with this new Supreme Court, firmly anchored on the right with six conservative judges against three progressives, is that it is out of step with American society, notes the W

.
This society is more and more marked by values that one could qualify as centrist, even progressive.
For example, a majority of Americans believe that abortion should be legal in all or most cases.
A position that contrasts with the new majority of the judges of the Supreme Court, rather hostile to abortion.
Failure for the Wisconsin Democrats
The Supreme Court which voted yesterday on another subject, namely the extension requests for the counting of the ballots.
Wisconsin Democrats had requested permission to extend the counting of the ballots six days after the Nov. 3 election.

According to this online newspaper, the Supreme Court ruling could have an impact on Democratic voters who are more inclined to vote by mail.
Political battle for the drafting of the new Chilean Constitution
In Chile, after the massive yes for a new Constitution drafted by the citizens, the political battle begins for the election of the members of the commission responsible for drafting it.
It is the "mother of all battles", headlines the newspaper
La Tercera
, quoting a minister of the Pinera government.
Everyone tries to advance their pawns knowing that the new convention in charge of drafting the text will be composed of 155 citizens and will include as many men as women.
The election will take place in April 2021. The center-left opposition is thinking about the best strategy.
Should we present one list or several?
The question is not yet decided.
As for the government, it pleads for a single list for the elections of this convention.
