This came in a speech given by Al-Gergawi at the opening of the high-level global dialogue, organized by the World Government Summit entitled "75 minutes for international cooperation", in cooperation with the United Nations, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Chairman of the Council Ministers and Ruler of Dubai, as part of the initiative to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the international organization, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, ministers in the UAE government, and international officials.

The high-level global dialogue reflects the common vision of the UAE and the United Nations, in promoting international cooperation to explore the future of governments, strengthening government frameworks, and building opportunities to create the best tools and methods that support the creation of a better future for people.

Al-Gergawi praised the efforts of the international organization that contribute to providing food to more than 100 million people in 83 countries, securing vaccines for more than 50% of the world's children, protecting more than 83 million refugees in various continents, and supporting 95,000 peacekeepers in 13 countries. The UN initiatives aiming to face other global challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, gender equality, and others.

The President of the World Government Summit said that the health challenges that the world witnessed recently, due to the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic, imposed radical changes in various aspects of life, and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and partnership between world governments, organizations and the private sector in designing the features of the future, and upgrading the role of The United Nations, setting the most prominent future goals, leading to the celebration of its centenary in 2045.

Al-Gergawi stressed the importance of international efforts to preserve natural life, which lost 60% of the number of its living creatures, indicating that the global economy will lose more than 10 trillion dollars over the next 30 years if effective solutions to environmental challenges are not found, and that the size of the economic return on investment in the environmental sector It exceeds nine times the expenses.

The President of the World Government Summit reviewed the most prominent changes in the fields of digital transformation, with about a million people joining the world of the Internet daily, and the role of global investments in accelerating the adoption of modern technology during the past months, and the opportunity to enhance human communication and generate economic opportunities to meet the challenges of the work sector, which include Creating 600 million new jobs in the next decade.

For his part, Guterres praised in his speech within the dialogue activities, the pioneering role of the UAE in supporting and leading positive global efforts, stressing the importance of uniting global efforts to continue the comprehensive development process, and the commitment to continue joint work to meet the challenges of the current stage.

Guterres said: “The United Nations continues to play its main role in supporting underprivileged societies around the world, and providing food, health and medicinal needs for hundreds of millions of people, with the aim of focusing optimally on confronting (Covid-19), which represents the greatest danger currently facing humanity,” noting That the effects and consequences of the pandemic carried at various levels represents a global warning bell to confront climate change, and affirms the need to accelerate the implementation of initiatives to develop renewable and sustainable energy sources, with the aim of reaching zero carbon emissions by 2050.

During the opening session, the Secretary-General of the United Nations answered questions from four children from around the world, dealing with the challenges that concern them at the personal and societal levels.

The first question was for the Syrian child Hamza, who lives with his family in the Zaatari camp in Jordan, where he talked about his social situation, the difficulties he faces in obtaining education, being a person of determination, and the lack of the necessary infrastructure or appropriate educational and training resources, and he addressed the Secretary-General of the Nations United saying: "How can we help and support children with disabilities around the world?"

Guterres expressed his sympathy to all refugees, stressing that the United Nations will continue to enable various members of society to achieve their future aspirations and hopes, and focus in its work on supporting children with disabilities in particular, and said: “We are working to develop schools in Zaatari camp and facilitate access to them, And the rehabilitation of its facilities to be suitable for all ».

Student Shadeeda Hussain from Zanzibar spoke about the damage her community is suffering due to climate change and the rise in ocean temperatures, indicating her desire to contribute to making a positive impact in the short term in her community and the world.
