SVT Nyheter Blekinge has previously reported that an employee in Region Blekinge's psychiatric activities was reported according to Lex Maria after repeated violations against a patient, between the autumn of 2018 and the spring of 2020.

According to the investigation that the care provider has now done in connection with the report to IVO, the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate, the staff must have kissed, massaged and touched the patient without her permission.

The employee must also have talked about sexual matters with the woman when they were alone.

- It is an extremely unprofessional action that has been very harmful to the patient.

This must not happen under any circumstances, says chief physician Peter Valverius.

The police report was dropped

According to the investigation, the woman must have felt worse and worse and had to be admitted to inpatient care more often as a result of the violations.

It was only when the staff had been suspended from their work - over a year after the events were supposed to have taken place - that the patient told about what she had been exposed to.

How could this happen?

- It happened all the time in secrecy.

I do not think that other staff had a chance to see what happened, and it took a long time before the patient dared to say anything, says Peter Valverius.

The woman reported the incidents to the police, who made a report of misconduct, but the case was dropped.

The Blekinge region has previously initiated a labor law process against its employee, who is currently exempt from work.
