“Due to the difficult epidemiological situation in the Sverdlovsk region, I decided to recommend extending the autumn holidays for another week,” he wrote on his Instagram.

According to him, the local authorities will make the final decision.

“However, I believe this is necessary in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus,” he added.

Kuyvashev noted that universities and educational organizations were recommended to switch to distance learning as much as possible from October 27.

“Indoor sports events will now be held without spectators,” he said.

In addition, the governor said, other restrictions are being extended, in particular the self-isolation regime for people over 65 years old.

According to operational data as of October 26, 281 cases of coronavirus were detected in the Sverdlovsk region per day. 

On October 23, the regional headquarters announced that in the Sverdlovsk region, along with the start of school holidays, they would introduce distance learning in colleges and technical schools.
