France counted 52 thousand and ten new infections with the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) within 24 hours, in a new record toll, according to official figures.

Last Friday, France exceeded the one million confirmed infection threshold since the start of the epidemic, and on Saturday it recorded more than 45,000 new infections, and yesterday, Sunday, 52010 cases of the virus were recorded, while the number of deaths reached 116 cases yesterday, bringing the total deaths since the start of the epidemic. To 34,761 deaths, according to the French health authorities.

The percentage of positive examinations continued to rise, reaching 17 percent on Sunday, compared to 16 percent on Saturday, and only 4.5 percent at the beginning of last September.

In a related context, the Elysee Palace announced that French President Emmanuel Macron postponed a visit to the Croissant region in eastern France, to meet representatives of the nuclear industry on Tuesday, due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Macron was scheduled to visit the "Framatum" site, accompanied by Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, Environment Minister Barbara Bombelli and Defense Minister Florence Parly, to speak with representatives of the Nuclear Electric Power Generation Company (ADF), the nuclear power company Orano and Naval Group, among other companies.

The French news agency stated that the French government may have to introduce more stringent measures to confront the second wave of the Corona virus, according to Bloomberg News.

Macron is scheduled to hold a ministerial meeting on defense, the morning after tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Elysee Palace, according to Parly's agenda.
