In several Arab countries, French goods are currently being boycotted as a protest against French President Emmanuel Macron.

This since the president several times marked against radical Islamists in recent weeks.

Among other things, Macron has defended the use of Muhammad caricatures after the brutal beheading of teacher Samuel Paty.

He has also said that Islam is a religion in crisis and that "Islamists want our future".

"Do not buy them"

One of the president's critics is Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who recently said Macron needed to do "a psychic test", to which France responded by calling home its ambassador.

On Monday, Erdoğan once again turned his attention to France.

- Like what is said in France, "do not buy Turkish goods", I now urge my people not to support French goods.

Do not buy them, the president said in a televised speech, writes Hurriyet News.

The Government of Pakistan has also reacted to Macron's statements and therefore called on the French ambassador for an explanation.
