Asked about the use of facial recognition and artificial intelligence to fight against terrorism in transport, he said he was "quite favorable".

The day before, in an interview with Le Parisien, the president of the Ile-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, advocated the use of facial recognition to fight against delinquency in transport networks, calling for the creation of a committee of 'ethics.

"We did this during the start of the Covid, we were able to detect the number of people who wore the mask," he explains to justify his position on the subject.

"This is how we were able to know that 95% of transport users wore the mask," adds the minister, specifying that such a measure must however necessarily be reconciled with individual freedoms.

"We are looking for behaviors, not people," he continues.

"The idea of ​​using artificial intelligence is to detect suspicious behavior, and it is implemented in a lot of countries."
