“In several countries in the Middle East in recent days there have been calls for a boycott of French products, especially agri-food products, as well as more general calls for demonstrations against France, sometimes in hateful expressions that were broadcast on social networks,” the RIA Novosti communiqué is quoted as saying.

As noted in Paris, "calls for a boycott are pointless and must be stopped immediately, like all attacks against our country used by a radical minority."

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that "attacks" on Muslims in European countries would "destroy Europe from the inside."

However, he criticized the words of French leader Emmanuel Macron, who called Islam "a religion in crisis throughout the world."

After that, France recalled its ambassador to Ankara.

Paris noted that the words of President Erdogan are "unacceptable."
