Lee Kun-hee, chairman of Samsung Group, the largest conglomerate in South Korea, who has grown the core Samsung Electronics into one of the world's leading companies, has passed away.

For the past few years, he hasn't appeared in public due to poor physical condition, and his eldest son, Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, has been in charge of steering the management as the de facto leader.
