Extensive operation of the Postal Police in the sector of combating the phenomenon of scams: a criminal association dedicated to the consumption of online scams at an international level has been vanquished with illicit profits for thousands of euros laundered in Swiss and US accounts. The Postal Police of Ancona and the Postal and Communications Police Service of Rome, at the end of an articulated investigative activity coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Ancona, have vanquished a criminal association dedicated to the consumption of scams to Italian companies in the center / north. These companies, operating in various product sectors, were attracted by the possibility, later found to be false, of concluding lucrative deals with American industries. 4 Italians denounced, two of whom resident abroad, responsible for fraudulent handling of money for hundreds of thousands of euros and dollars which were then transferred to Swiss and US accounts. The investigation arose from the complaint of a CEO of a company from the Marche who was contacted by phantom collaborators of a US company looking for a European supplier on behalf of various American companies that expressed interest in the products offered by the company for who requested the catalogs. The modus operandi of the criminal team was well defined in the roles and tasks assigned to each: The first level was entrusted to two spouses who made the first contacts with companies, essentially located in the north / central Italy, offering the opportunity to open partnerships with US companies such as "Berkshire Hathaway Inc." and others. The victims were contacted by subjects hiding behind illegally stolen identities by means of communications with the Skype application, and emails apparently coming from employees of Berkshire Hathaway and other companies. After about 20/30 days the scammers contacted again the Italian company, declaring that, at the end of a comparative assessment with other national competitors in the same product sector, the company itself had passed an initial check and therefore information on its production capacity was requested, given the high volume of product to be marketed in the USA.
