In the Uppsala Region, a clear increase in the spread of infection was seen in connection with the pay weekend in September.

- It went straight up, says Mats Martinell.

The Crush covid project is working to map out where people have become infected.

The data on which the project works is based on what hundreds of people who tested positive for the coronavirus told the tracers during the weeks 39-42, ie from the end of September until last week.

They have been asked where they think they have been infected.

Thus, the statistics are based on an opinion and not where one has been scientifically proven to have been infected.

Statistics are produced in collaboration with Uppsala University and the Uppsala Region

Week 39-40, 41 percent of the participants thought that they had been infected outside, for example, in a pub or at a private gathering.

- In connection with the pay weekend, we saw a greater spread of infection in, for example, pubs, clubs and private parties, says Mats Martinell.

Now it's pay weekend again.

What the effect will be remains to be seen.

- We can only see that in a few weeks.

But the message from Martinell is crystal clear.

- It's time for a light beer weekend - it must be ready now, says Mats Martinell.
