A week after the assassination Samuel Paty, the Muslims of France made this day of prayer a day of homage to the history teacher killed in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

REPORTAGE

Almost everywhere in France, imams responded to the appeal of the rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, who had asked that their sermons be devoted to the denunciation of Islamist terrorism.

Friday at the mosque of Montfermeil, in Seine-Saint-Denis, 250 faithful gathered for the sermon, as every week.

But this time, the imam had specific words: he strongly condemns the assassination of history professor Samuel Paty, killed by a radical Islamist a week ago in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

"No religion can accept such an abominable action. Islam disavows itself of these fanatics, barbarians and assassins", one could hear in the loudspeakers.

"Together we will make it happen"

Facing him, the assembly is very moved.

"We Muslims are doubly bruised. We are losing a member of our family. This act was supposedly done in our name, but I would like to tell the whole of France that we have nothing to do with it. We regret this act. . We are there in peace. Islam means peace. We will fight and we will fight alongside you. Together, we will achieve it, "says Karim, who wanted to express his grief.

In Montfermeil, the sermons followed one another in the afternoon with each time the same message in homage to Samuel Paty.
