25 February 2019 The former mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno was sentenced to 6 years in prison for corruption and illicit financing as part of the 'Mafia Capitale' process.

The sentence was handed down by the judges of the second criminal section of the court.



Alemanno was banned from public office in perpetuity, for two years he will not be able to contract with the public administration and the judges have also ordered a legal ban for the entire duration of the sentence.

Furthermore, the former mayor of Rome was sentenced to compensate both Ama and Roma Capitale and a provisional provision of 50 thousand euros was set for both the municipal company and the Municipality.



The story


The facts to which the investigators refer date back to the period between 2012 and 2014: Alemanno allegedly received from the entrepreneur Salvatore Buzzi in agreement with Massimo Carminati, and through subjects related to them, 223,500 euros, of which the prosecutor requested the confiscation , through payments to the foundation and its electoral agent and ten thousand euros in cash.
