With a first goal in the league and a decisive performance against Krasnodar in the Champions League, Martin Terrier begins to make his hole with Rennes, who will badly need his dazzling success to regain success on Friday against Angers (9:00 p.m.) in Ligue 1.

The winger is one of the satisfaction of the last few weeks within the Breton club, yet stuck in a series of three draws in all competitions which slowed down his good momentum at the start of the season.

"It feels good when you are a striker to score goals," Terrier admitted after Friday's match in Dijon (1-1).

However, "I had no doubt that it would come, I was well prepared".

Certainly, his arrival from Lyon at the very beginning of the transfer window, almost in the suitcases of the new Rennes sports director Florian Maurice (ex-OL), allowed him to follow all the summer preparation, marked by two goals in the last friendly matches of the August.

But since the resumption, he was rather discreet, applied as much in attack as in defense on his left wing but leaving other recruits to shine like Serhou Guirassy (3 goals) and Nayef Aguerd (2 goals).

Finally in Dijon, his beautiful recovery crossed on a center of Hamari Traoré restarted the train, even if it was not enough for Rennes to get rid of the red lantern.

- Finesse -

Tuesday against Krasnodar (1-1), he was one of the very few Rennes to have already played in the Champions League, and if Eduardo Camavinga, the darling of Roazhon Park, again drew all the light in the first period, Martin Terrier took the ascendancy in the second.

It was he who, with a lot of skill, caused the penalty after a 40-meter race.

And whether from his lane or by transplanting regularly in the axis, he provoked the Russian defense, all in finesse, and offered several caviars which could have been as many assists if his teammates had been more successful.

In the future, he presents himself as an essential cog in a promising machine, if the left side Dalbert or the young Adrien Truffert manage to gain strength behind him and if his probable counterpart in the right lane Jérémy Doku shows up to the height of its explosive debut.

Born in Armentières, trained in Lille and passed through Strasbourg, he in any case found in Rennes the playing time that the competition had been competing with him for two years in Lyon.

What to give ambitions?

He who had achieved a hat-trick in his first match with the France Espoirs team - for a 4-1 against Kazakhstan in September 2017 - does not hide that he hopes to find in Rennes a springboard to join Steven Nzonzi and Eduardo Camavinga among the Blues.

"If I am efficient, the rest will come by itself. I do not put myself under any particular pressure for the France team, but it is an objective, obviously. When we have known the Espoirs, we want to know higher. At the moment, I am regularly called up for the Under-21s and potentially qualifying for the Olympics, also an objective "next summer in Tokyo, he recently told the Ouest-France daily.

Trained on the left wing, sometimes tested at a peak by trainer Julien Stéphan this summer, he feels comfortable in the axis and would see himself as N.10, if the system came back into fashion.

In his spare time, he is also a formidable competitor ... on video games, he revealed to Ouest-France, claiming to have been the time of a short weekend N.1 world championship of FIFA Ultimate Team, after a marathon of 30 victories during these two days.

It is up to him to bring Rennes back on the road to success.
