The second and final debate in the United States between the two candidates for the White House was held Thursday evening, in Nashville, capital of Tennessee.

A debate during which Donald Trump and Joe Biden addressed substantive subjects in a much less electric atmosphere than during their first duel.

Moreover, the American press is unanimous on one plan: this debate was calmer, more respectful, even if some spikes were launched.

Twelve days before the election, American voters were finally able to find out more about the intentions of the candidates, estimates the

Washington Post

.

Two subjects more or less dominated this verbal contest: the coronavirus and corruption.

Joe Biden reproaches his opponent for his lack of heart and especially the lack of plan to deal with the pandemic which is hitting the United States hard, while according to the Democratic candidate the coming months will be complicated.

Donald Trump does not budge, details the

New York Times

.

Thanks to his policies, hundreds of thousands of lives have been saved.

A president who continues to claim that a vaccine will be available very quickly, even if he is unable to specify when.

The two candidates still addressed a few pikes, especially from Donald Trump who had decided to attack Joe Biden on the affairs of his son Hunter.

The Republican candidate had decided to attack him on this subject even if the mediator did not speak about it, explains

Politico

.

But Joe Biden was able to remain calm and did not fall into the trap, believes the political review.

Besides,

Politico

does not hesitate to say that the winner of this debate is none other than Hunter Biden.

Exactly who is the winner of this latest debate according to the American press?

There are several possible readings.

Trump was courteous, less aggressive, considers the

Washington Post

, he has sometimes even demonstrated a certain mastery of subjects.

A Donald Trump who has not due to the Tump.

As for Joe Biden: the Democratic candidate has remained true to himself: calm, with arguments and avoiding the traps set by his rival.

It is therefore a

status quo

that prevails, estimates the

New York Times

.

And this is not necessarily good news for Donald Trump, he who is left behind by nearly ten points by Joe Biden when already nearly fifty million Americans have already voted.

Fears of an oil spill on the border between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago

An oil tanker has been stranded in the Gulf of Paria, between the Venezuelan coasts and those of Trinidad and Tobago, and has been for months.

If the Venezuelan authorities avoid raising the subject, this is not the case in Trinidad and Tobago.

In its editorial of the day, the

Daily Express is

alarmed by the situation.

Because if at first it seemed that the tanker did not represent any environmental risk, a press conference by the Minister of Energy of Trinidad and Tobago has revived fears.

Thirty-five days will be necessary to empty the tanks of the Nabarima.

Oil which will then have to be transported in small barges.

Even if the minister wished to reassure by explaining that "

the ship is straight and stable, with no visible risk of sinking

", the lack of responsiveness of the Venezuelan authorities still makes fear the worst, estimates the

Daily Express

.

D-2 before the constitutional referendum in Chile

It is this Sunday that a referendum must be held on a change of Constitution, a consultation in the midst of a pandemic and while social discontent remains as active as ever.

This Thursday marked the last day of campaigning for this highly anticipated referendum, details

El Mercurio

.

Gatherings, walks on foot, by bicycle or even by car were organized everywhere.

And from this Friday, October 23, announces

La Tercera

, the police - the army and the riflemen in this case - will take charge of the security of the polling stations as required by the current Constitution.

Health measures have also been put in place.

The Chileans will have to answer two questions next Sunday: do you want a new Constitution and who in your opinion should be responsible for drafting this new Constitution?

The voters will have the choice between a commission of elected officials or a mixed commission, that is to say made up of elected officials and citizens.

A long-awaited constitutional change explains the Peruvian daily

Correo

, which is more social, fairer and which will definitely turn the page on dictatorship.
