These eight patients will come from establishments in Lyon, Saint-Etienne and Villeurbanne, said the Regional Health Agency in a press release, stressing that "the current resuscitation capacities of the New Aquitaine region allow it to achieve this reception in all security".

New Aquitaine hospitals had already received dozens of patients

Transfers carried out by medical plane, medicalized by the SAMUs of Loire and Rhône, were underway Friday in the middle of the day.

Two patients from the Hospices Civils de Lyon will be received at the CHU de Poitiers, two others from the Hospices Civils de Lyon and the Médipôle de Villeurbanne will be sent to Brive and four others from Saint-Etienne (CHU and Private Hospital of Loire) will be hospitalized in Bordeaux (CHU).

In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, only the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Haute-Vienne departments are currently subject to curfew.

During the first wave of the epidemic, last spring, hospitals in Nouvelle Aquitaine had already received dozens of patients from the most affected regions.
