"The minister discussed with his colleague the latest situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, provided detailed information on the destructive policy of the Armenian side, targeted shelling of the civilian population of Azerbaijan, the mass recruitment of mercenaries and terrorists from abroad and other issues," the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry quoted RIA News.

Bayramov and Pompeo also discussed issues of bilateral relations between the countries.

Earlier the diplomats of Russia and Armenia called for the withdrawal of militants from the countries of the Middle East and North Africa from Karabakh.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in turn, denied the statements about the participation of mercenaries in the battles in Nagorno-Karabakh on the side of Baku.

Azerbaijan and Armenia announced a temporary humanitarian truce from 00:00 on October 18.

The parties later accused each other of violating the truce.
