According to Korean media reports, on the 22nd local time, South Korea’s ruling party’s Democratic Party leader Li Luoyuan met with the Japanese ambassador to South Korea Hiroshi Tomita and asked the Japanese side to disclose information about nuclear sewage treatment at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

  Li Luoyuan said that Japan should transparently disclose all information related to Fukushima's nuclear sewage treatment and carry out relevant work with the approval of the international community.

  Tomita Hiroshi responded that the Japanese government has not finalized a specific treatment policy, but he understands South Korea’s concerns and accepts the proposal.

He also said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has shown that Japan’s nuclear sewage discharge plan is technically feasible and conforms to international practices.

  In addition, Li Luoyuan also said that the importance of Korea-Japan cooperation is undoubtedly important, and he hopes to work towards a common goal.

  Tomita Hiroshi agreed with the importance of bilateral relations between South Korea and Japan, saying that he would use the appointment of the new Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga as an opportunity to work towards improving bilateral relations.
