Wednesday October 21, after a meeting with political parties but to which no heavyweight of the opposition surrendered, the government made some concessions, on the Electoral Commission in particular.
One more chair, that is to say a fifth seat granted to the opposition within the CEI, the vice-presidency of the office of the central commission of the institution for the PDCI, and the recomposition of the electoral commissions local: this is what the government conceded to an opposition which has been demanding for several weeks a complete overhaul of the CEI and the Constitutional Council as well as an audit of the electoral list.
Another gesture by the government: the possibility of a Ouattara-Bédié meeting is mentioned.
The press release says in any case the "
availability of the Head of State
".
Finally, the government calls on the opposition to "
immediately lift the slogan of civil disobedience
".
For the moment, the opposition has not reacted to these proposals, but already on Wednesday, before the meeting, Pascal Affi N'guessan had indicated that the opposition was open to negotiations "
only in the framework of international facilitation
”.
"
The political opposition and the candidates Henri Konan Bédié and Pascal Affi N'guessan cannot participate in a meeting under the chairmanship of any member of the government of Côte d'Ivoire,
" added the FPI candidate who called once again when opening a transition after October 31.
If the situation does not change ...
