China News Service, October 22. According to Euronet, citing EUN News Agency’s report on the 22nd, the Italian catering industry has suffered an unprecedented hit due to the impact of the new crown epidemic.

Recently, in the Italian city of Milan, a large number of catering industry transfer advertisements appeared.

Market research institutions pointed out that more than 25% of restaurants and bars in Milan are currently facing crisis, and half of the catering industry may face bankruptcy in the future.

According to reports, a recent survey released by the Milan Business Administration showed that more than 13% of restaurant and bar operators began to publish transfer advertisements after Italy implemented national lockdown measures due to the epidemic.

Today, this number has reached more than 25%.

The data also shows that due to the second wave of the epidemic and the government's gradual tightening of epidemic prevention measures, 25% of the approximately 9,000 restaurants and bars in Milan are on the verge of bankruptcy.

It is estimated that in the next 30 days, the loss of Milan's catering industry will reach about 70 million euros, and catering companies on the verge of bankruptcy may reach 50%.

Stoppani, chairman of the Italian Public Market Research Federation, said that if there is no appropriate support policy for the catering industry, more and more restaurants will be on the verge of bankruptcy.

He called on the government to find ways to give catering owners opportunities, as well as supporting policies and necessary economic support.

Garibello, research director of Milan Real Estate Market Research Institute, said that under normal operating conditions, Milanese catering owners account for 30% of their revenue and about 50% of their employees.

Since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, most local catering owners have not only been unprofitable, but even have to pay rent and wages out of their pockets.

Garibello pointed out that, according to the forecast of the researchers, in the future, the rent of Milan's catering business premises will be reduced by 5% to 20%.

However, currently, Milanese restaurant owners must pay rent or loans at the end of the month. If the business no longer has any hope for the future, the only way is to file for bankruptcy to avoid personal and family debts.
