What determines which candidate you vote for?

SVT has spoken to four Americans about why they are voting for Biden or Trump - and which issues are most important in this autumn's election.

Danny Burrow, software developer, Portland, Oregon.

Why do you vote for Biden?

- I am worried about where the Republican Party is going, so even though Biden was far from my first choice, it is important that the Republicans do not continue to erode the democratic institutions.

Which questions are most important to you?

- Democratic reforms are my most important issue.

I am extremely concerned about the state of the courts, the Electoral College and the division into districts.

The personal issues that I care about, in addition to that, are reproductive rights, care issues and equality.

Tim Seifert, Sales Manager, Dallas, Texas

Why are you voting for Trump?

- He gets things done, Trump does not owe any services in Washington and he has done more than any president since Ronald Reagan.

Donald Trump does not always express himself correctly, but he means well.

Which questions are most important to you?

- The courts have always been important to me.

Conservative judges vote in line with what I believe.

Otherwise, I am worried about the riots that are happening around the country.

I understand why people are protesting but the vandalism must stop.

It is widely allowed in states where Democrats have power.

It scares me and worries me about my children's future.

Jessica Fry, San Diego, California

Why do you vote for Biden?

- I believe that Biden will protect the right to abortion and will improve America's reputation around the world.

I also think he is the candidate who can reduce the gap between Republicans and Democrats.

Which questions are most important to you?

-I care about climate change, the right to abortion and our country's reputation in the world.

One of Donald Trump's first moves was to enforce a travel ban on people with the legal right to be in the United States.

My husband is not a US citizen and it is with a sense of dread that one realizes that these decisions can be made with a simple signature.

Michael Kelly, attorney, Auburn, Alabama

Why are you voting for Trump?

- Donald Trump has done an incredible amount in a short time, he may not always do well but he is governed by conservative values.

Which questions are most important to you?

- The most important issue for me is the right to abortion, as long as the Democrats stand for liberal abortion laws, it is unthinkable for me to vote for them.

Nowadays, Democrats and Republicans are far apart, and for me the agenda of Democrats is far from the values on which America was founded.
