Another case of a mutilated animal.

A young calf was found dead and mutilated in Rancy (Saône-et-Loire), the department's gendarmerie said on Wednesday.

Found on Tuesday in his meadow, the animal had a severed ear, as well as the tongue and genitals, said the gendarmes.

This is the third such discovery made in just one week in the region.

Many cases of mutilation

Indeed, Thursday, October 15, two calves had already been found dead and mutilated in Saône-et-Loire.

The first, discovered at Saint-Léger-sous-Beuvray, had his tongue and tail cut off.

The second, found in Saint-Eugène, had his tongue cut out and his eyes had been removed.

Many animals, most often equines but also cattle, have undergone similar mutilations in France in recent months.

Most of the animals victims of these acts died from their wounds, or were slaughtered by their torturers.
