A local fish restaurant posted a video of a crocodile refusing to leave a fisherman's bait and breaking its hook in the Victoria River in Catherine, Northern Territory of Australia.

Australian Trent de Wei, the fisherman who appears in the clip, and a family member who runs the restaurant, said the accident happened during a trip with friends on October 12.

"We were on the Victoria River, about 3 hours west of Catherine, which is a well-known fishing area in the city," he said in a press statement.

In the clip, a huge crocodile appeared suddenly after biting the bait in the hook, and then a sharp struggle ensued between it and the fisherman, as it sank into the water and then ascended to the surface several times, shaking its head violently.

Trent felt nervous because his rod was bent in almost half during this intense conflict, but in the end the bait was released and the crocodile swimming again.

According to the Australian fisherman, it is common for such things to happen, and for large animals to accidentally attach themselves to the bait.
