21 October 2020 "There are more than half a million businesses of young people under the age of 35 present in Italy today", "equal to 8.7% of the entire national production system".

This is what results from the Unioncamere data, presented today at the Assembly in Rome, which however show a decrease of 80 thousand units compared to 5 years ago.

For this reason, the Chambers of Commerce argue, it is "essential to implement strong and decisive actions supported by the resources of the Next Generation Eu, capable of reversing the course and restoring confidence to the new generations".

"The loss of 80 thousand youth enterprises - continues the Unioncamere statement - was mainly contributed by some of the more traditional sectors, starting with Commerce, which has 35 thousand fewer companies under 35, and Construction (-29 thousand). catering loses almost 5 thousand companies under 35, the Manufacture instead 7 thousand ".

But the data also show another trend among young people who "have returned to feel the call of the world of agriculture" and "represent a significant share" of the companies of tomorrow.

Speaking of innovation, "almost one in 5 companies (18%, for just under 2,100 units out of a total of over 11 thousand units) is predominantly young", but not only.

Young people are much more attentive to green investments, given that "47% have invested in the green economy in the past three years, compared to 23% of other companies".

Nonetheless "6 out of 10 young people have focused on traditional sectors, such as Commerce, where there are 140 thousand companies under 35 (26.5% of the total), Construction (63 thousand, equal to 12%), Tourism (almost 58 thousand, approximately 11%) and Agriculture (55 thousand, 10.4%) ", while" another 10% of the youth world that does business is also active in the most innovative sectors with a high use of technologies, starting with information and communication ".

Analyzing the data from a geographical point of view, "only Trentino Alto Adige has seen an increase in companies led by under 35s in these five years: its 9,300 companies are 2.4% more than in September 2015", Marche (-20 , 6%), Tuscany (-19.8%) and Abruzzo (-18.4%) are the regions that in relative terms have seen the most conspicuous reductions in the number of young entrepreneurs.
