The clash, Friday evening in a district of Strasbourg, had caused the temporary closure of the Franco-German border.

In the middle of the street and in broad daylight, two individuals had pulled out a machine gun and a Kalashnikov.

At least one shot had been fired, before the intervention of the police, who had not found the attackers.

One of the two was in police custody Tuesday evening.

The man, born in 1986, presented himself to the police.

He admitted to having had a Kalashnikov in hand, then to have been disarmed by his companion who also spontaneously surrendered to the authorities.

The latter's custody was lifted during the day.

As for the one who used a Scorpion submachine gun and fired at least once, he remains at large and actively wanted by law enforcement.

According to the Latest News from Alsace, one of the three individuals was sentenced to two years in prison in 2016 for possession of arms and ammunition.
